6 Pack Recap

6-8

Well, you win some you lose some. I guess I was too generous offering 14 picks in a 6 pack. Maybe I need to reel that in next time. Not bad enough to bury the blog in the backyard and move on, so we will do some slight reflection.

Recap:

A tradition unlike any other, me losing money on Tech. They always give me just enough hope and then crush me. A pick 6 at the end of the game to not cover as well… brutal. It is frustrating as hell to start 0-2 with all of the hype  surrounding the team this year, but there were positive to take away in that game. We need to limit the turnovers; Shough cannot make those terrible decisions under pressure. I do feel good about how we will perform in conference after that game. This will be a team to bet on going forward.

Did Brian Ferentz’s Iowa offense score 25? No. Did the Hawkeyes cover? Damn right they did. The CyHawk game was everything I wanted it to be. It feels good cashing in on that spot. I wonder if any of the players on either side cashed in as well.

The hype for Colorado is even crazier after a big win vs Nebraska. Sharps were trying to be too cute with this one, Colorado was the better team. They will take care of Colorado state next week, but let’s look to fade them as they will be a popular public play going forward. I just hope the Sanders family doesn’t take that personal.

I usually wish for rain. Love it when it comes. This Saturday has changed that. We had to sit through way too many weather delays, which ruined the 11 am kickoff slate. I don’t need Mother Nature getting between me and football. Took all day for Purdue to cash, but I’m glad they did.

Oklahoma showed how I always get in my own way. The 2 for 1 special… I split the picks. I should not have picked the side and total. I will be better next time.

I’m burying this in the bottom of the blog because I hate to say it. Texas is back. That was the win their program needed to officially be back. Sucks to see them this high while we are this low. Oh well, it will just make it that much sweeter when we beat them later in the year.

My key takeaway is that I need to reel this 6 pack in and make it 6 picks. If I had that discipline, then we’d be celebrating a 4-2 week and we’d all be swimming in cash. Like drinking, it all started fun and went downhill quickly. I’d say the tides turned with the 6 pack became a 12 pack plus 2 extras left in the golf bag. Don’t get me wrong I know myself and I’ll still make 30+ plays a college weekend. I’ll highlight the top 6 so you know which ones are strong opinions vs bad discipline and impulse.

I’m looking forward to next week’s 6 pack, it will be a good one.
